How My Faith Defined My Womanhood

If you ever met me you would know right away that my faith is my life line. I struggled with my identity my entire young life and the only thing that remained the same was my faith. But I wanted to know deeply who I really was and also who I was as a woman. As a young girl I grew up not fully understanding how to really become a woman. Was it sexuality? Was it woman nature within me? What really made me a woman? I became a mother before I even knew the answer to that question.  Prayer took the lead in my discovery and the Word brought me little understanding. It was then in my spirit I knew I would have to walk this out organically.

What Makes A Woman?

It’s not so much physiology. I couldn’t look at myself and just see what woman I was. No, I discovered it’s spirituality that really made me the woman I am and then wanted to become. In the depths of my soul what would I find there? Well, some terrifying things as I dug through the surface, but as I began to dig deeper, I found the most delicious treasures. Things hidden in me I never knew existed. There was power, strength, love, weakness and beautiful brokenness that turned out to be the most beautiful parts of the woman in me. I will most likely spend the rest of my life putting those pieces together but it is an Odyssey I am greatly enjoying the fruits of. The journey is transforming the heart of me with every breath, every year that leaves me and wisdom is growing like deep roots of a tree.

Bering a woman means being all that God created us to be. Embracing all of feminimty that’s unique and loving the body we are walking in. Allowing the Spirit to bring us to life and cultvating the very essence of our gifts in Christ. Letting our light shine and not allowing the enemy to use our gifts for our destruction. Being our best advocates instead of our own worst enemy. Lifting other women up in sisterhood but also not being afraid to speak the truth which sets them free. Leading with our men with swords in hand and when the battle comes, suit up in our armor of faith and deafeat the enemy and win the war together, This is womanhood spiritually. And every year I’m learning more and more.

Without my faith I would have never discovered all the gifts in me and all the lack. I discovered the path to something fierce. Behind me He was there cheering me on and loving me.

Don’t stop at the outward, not even the surface once you truly begin your discovery. Dig deep and find the core of the trueness of woman inside of you.

Practical Ways To Get Your Pink Back!

Practical Ways To Get Your Pink Back After A Baby

The days of just surviving after having a baby is over! A new trend called “Getting your Pink Back” is in. As a mother of 6 children I can tell you this is something I have struggled with maintaining and have tried many different ways to getting myself back after each child. Here’s my advice!

Wait.. what does getting your pink back even mean?

Many influencing mom have their own takes on it including one of the first referencing flamingo’s and their offspring. Look that up later! But here’s my take on things. As mother’s when our babies are first born our instincts are to nurture our new life in the world. It can take a lot out of us as we focus on our baby’s needs and in some areas we do the bare minimum for ourselves just to get through the day or even years. This isn’t a bad thing but after a certain period there comes a time where we gain a little more sleep and get small bits of time back in our day. The problem is the latter part when we tend to find ways to fill up the new recovered time with everything else but ourselves. We go back to work, we give our kids more of us as they grow and if we have them, our spouses and partners more time as well. That’s when we find there’s little time for ourselves and so the neglect continues when it doesn’t necessarily need to.

I’m always going to advocate for both mom health and baby health. But one doesn’t have to be without the other. You can nourish your body even in the “healing” phase of motherhood which is postpartum and beyond to get your pink back so to speak. Here’s a few ways to do that from my own experiences.

Begin the Healing

Yoga may not be your thing but some form of stretching works wonders. You can take 15 to 20 minutes everyday and become stronger with little effort by doing stretch exercises. I call them my lazy workouts though there’s nothing lazy about them. They really do work if your goal is focused on healing instead of immediate weight loss. Focus on abdominal repair work outs and check if you have diastasis recti .This is a common condition post pregnancy but also can be healed naturally. Wear your belly support bands ladies during pregnancy and get ones for postpartum too they really work!

Clean eating can be as easy as switching from fast food hamburgers to nutrient dense soups and casseroles. WHAT I can eat a healthy casserole? Absolutely! Change your basic cheap macaroni full of preservatives to ones with better whole ingredients and Voila! Carbs are not always your enemy. It’s what the carb is made of that is!

Start A Natural Beauty Routine

Your skin needs you babe! Our hormones are fluctuating during the first few weeks to even years after having a baby and it’s not the time to experiment with chemical ridden cosmetics. Get to know your skin by investing in natural products or go the DIY route. A face mask daily refreshes the skin and gives you a little treat. My favorite masks are mud and charcoal. Begin a morning and night routine and do your best to stick with it!. My favorite two cleansers are raw unfiltered honey and castle soap. Moisturizers I live by is aloe vera leaf (from the plant) and olive oil. If these natural products don’t work switch up and find ones that work. Natural soaps like goat milk soap is great to cleanse the skin with. Coconut oil and caster oil are great oils for moisturizing to try as well. Don’t sleep on the ice! It really does work! Use ice cubes or ice rollers to shrink pores and improve circulation. It’s not just a beauty routine but a self discovery journey as well!

The Mama Clothes May Have To Go!

From maternity clothes to the clothes you bought just to exist in during the 4th trimester, it’s time to let them go! It’s okay to freshen up your closet to match your current season. You don’t have to throw them away but you can save them for future pregnancies or donate them. Find clothing that flatter your body and make you feel good instead of going by trends. Trends can be exciting but also very disheartening if what’s on trend doesn’t look as good on you as it does on everyone on social media. Have a friend, spouse or family member go with you shopping to help with the baby while you try on new clothes. Or browse the Internet during nap time and shop from your own style board you made on Pinterest. This is one of my favorite things to do after having one of the kids to get my “pink” back!

Mom Hair But We Do Care

We are at that point, in society that we just don’t give a you know what. We’re doing our best and it’s become very popular to just accept others as they are and ourselves. Which I love! But at one point we have to rise up out of the “it is what it is” survival pit. It has it’s place but we are moving on. Rather we want to admit it or not there’s something powerful about our hair. It can change everything about how we feel about ourselves and in fact sometimes one of the first things we do when going through a big change is we change our hair! I was notorious for big chops when I was younger. And if you’re ready for it girl do you! But you can also go in for a refresh hair cut to clip your ends or try a new layering style. It doesn’t even have to be a hair cut. When I was pregnant with my last munchkin, my goal was to grow my hair after she was born. I’ve been trying new routines to see which one worked with less effort as having 6 kids ain’t no joke! But I am determined to find time to give to this goal. I wash my hair once a week, deep condonation with one leave in product after washing, style my hair once, do an oil treatment before shampooing and repeat.  This protected my hair from shedding too much during the dreaded postpartum shed and my hair is healing and growing! Getting a fresh start with our hair feels like letting a load off and it’s very refreshing.

Girl YOU MATTER So Act Like It!

You gave life to someone else now you must give life back to yourself. You don’t have to go to the gym, take a bunch of supplements or spend a bunch of money to get your pink back. The natural ways are always cost effective and the most effective from experience. But remember don’t be so quick to jump on this trend right after birth because at the end of the day you and your baby’s bond is what matters the most. Enjoy the newborn phase because it’s the quickest of them all!

My favorite Winter Body Scrub + Homemade

I first found the original recipe for this scrub on Pinterest years ago. It was too abrasive so over the years I revised it. My main goal was too make sure I was not only scrubbing away dead skin but at the same time moisturizing deeply and using ingredients to help lock in that moisture. This is by far my most messy beauty recipe but it’s also my favorite. I have been using this for years and I have to give it some credit for keeping my skin healthy in the winter months. Skip the spa and pamper yourself right at home with this one! You’ll be glad you did 😉

  • 1 Medium Avocado
  • 1 TBSP of Olive Oil
  • 1 TBSP of Epsom Salt
  • 1 Cup of left over used coffee grounds
  • 1 TBSP of Almond Oil

Smash Avocado into all ingredients with a fork and stir. Make sure you use this right away! Scrub in circular motions starting from your face then down your neck and shoulders. Continue on with the rest of your body. Rinse well. To protect your drains put a hair catcher over the drain and it will catch any chunks. Enjoy your soft fresh skin!

Fall Beauty Essentials: Body Care

bodybasics

I don’t know about you but I love switching up my body care products every season. My love for fall scents ends with my body care so this won’t be one of those posts. Not to worry no pumpkin spice deodorant here!

Some of these products I have used every year the cool air makes its way to our valley. So some of these need to be stocked soon and you will see what I mean below. Nevertheless, I still wanted to share them with you in hopes they too will bless you as much as they have me.

IMG_7638

Tom’s of Maine 24 hour Fresh Apricot Deodorant is a new product for me. I was always afraid natural deodorants would expose me body odor rather than prevent it. But I am very happy this does all the little things it promises to do.

What I think of Tom

Smells fresh and fruity and that’s my favorite scent combination.

It goes on smooth and feels light.

Does not clog up my sweat glands. Yay!

Lasts all day with no need of another application.

Because of this deodorant I don’t have to use Old Spice anymore (yeah I did that. for years).

IMG_7657

My shameless almost empty bottle of Palmer’s Moisturizing Body Oil is my go to body moisturizer all fall and winter. I use this all the time to keep my skin moisturized and soft.

What I love about this oil

As I stated before it keeps my skin moisturized and smooth.

It prevents the severe dry skin I encounter every year in Fall and Winter.

It smells amazing and has a subtle cocoa butter scent.

I can use this in an oil soak bath or I can smooth it over my skin after a shower. Two for one!

IMG_7648

I have been using The Healing Garden’s Natural Olive Oil Body Wash for over a year now. I was immediately hooked once I smelled this body wash and I use it all year round.

Why this Body wash has my heart

I love that it’s a natural oil body wash. I have been looking for a body wash that uses not only essentials oils but also plant and vegetable oils.

I love the beautiful lavender smell. I always imagine acres of lavender when using it!

My skin has had less after shower dryness every since I have been using this. There are times I don’t want to moisturize my skin after a shower and I don’t regret it later.

IMG_7636

I don’t know how long Bath and Body works have been selling Coco Shea Honey 24-Hour Body Lotion, but it is such a treat. My husband took me to one of their big sales earlier this year and I got this for a great deal along with other things. This baby sells for $15.00 but I tell you the truth it melts on your skin like butter! This will last me a long time so no shade on how much I spent on it you get my driff?  I have been searching for a special lotion just for my bathroom after me or my guest wash their hands and I’m so glad I found this.

Why this rocked my life

The moisturizing effect is unbeatable. I have been through many hand lotions and this one wins hands down. As a mother who constantly cleans and bathes and cooks for 4 little people I have the hardest time with dry hands. I always use this lotion to prevent that from happening and to heal them when the cracking first starts.

The smell is truly heavenly.

It has my favorite natural moisturizers in it. Cocoa Butter Shea Butter and.. HONEY.

It leaves no residue and does not transfer. Once I put it on it instantly absorbs!

You can find these products by of course going to their websites but the first 3 I got at Wal-Mart. And of course the last will HOPEFULLY be on Bath and Body Work’s website. Take care of yourself and stay beautiful!

Fall Beauty Essentials: Curly Hair Care

5 years ago I went natural. Trying to get to know my curls was frustrating and I almost went crazy. I have the hardest times with breakage mainly in the Fall and Spring. It has been a continuous nightmare trying to find products that are safe for my scalp and delightful to my tresses. I went with all natural oils for a few years when I gave up on any product out there claiming they were both Natural and healing. In the end they made my hair worse than it was before.

But as the years went on new products emerged and I have come to love them and will be eternally grateful that they now exist. These products help Prepare my hair for the coming seasonal challenges, Prevent breakage and Protect my curls from the changing weather.

Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Shampoo

Wow that’ s a long title! But don’t let that put you off on this amazing shampoo. I have tried many shampoos and conditioners throughout my whole adult life, non natural and natural as well. You already know my love for honey. I have always wanted to use honey in my hair care but first attempt to make homemade shampoo failed so I honestly gave up. I still hope to one day make my very own shampoo. But I decided to try this out until then. And I ABSOLUTELY love it! One thing I realized as my gorgeous, thick, black curls grew longer was, I had to wash my hair more often than I used to. My hair is thick so the longer it gets the more it clings onto dirt and oil.

What I love about Shea Moisture’s Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Shampoo:

I am able to wash my hair once to twice a week without it stripping the natural oils in my scalp (this causes severe dryness and over production of oil which leads to bad dandruff).

It foams making sure that it spreads evenly throughout the hair strands cleaning well.

My hair is clean, soft and shiny all at once. Once my hair is rinsed and dried, it feels, looks and smells glorious!

Aragan Oil of Morocco & One ‘n Only Aragan Oil

Both of these oils are my favorite and I keep them on hand yearly. I don’t use conditioners after I wash my hair so these products are what I use when I don’t want to use my own handmade oil treatments.

What I love about Aragan Oil of Morocco:

This oil is thick but provides so much coverage that you only need a small amount for each section of hair. I have always favored it’s beautiful aromatic smell and it’s ability to deliver softness and it has great absorbency.

What I love about One ‘n Only Aragon Oil

Although I prefer the Aragan Oil of Morocco, this oil is my go to when I have been neglectful to my hair. When the days are busy and hours randomly turn into weeks, I sometimes forget to tend to my hair and I pay for it. This oil has been essential to helping me stop the current breakage and prevent any from happening until I can take time to care for my hair. I always keep this on hand mainly for that reason. I love the smell but I frequently use this on my kids had rather than my own. It is a good alternative to the other oil I mentioned if you don’t like that one.

The Mane Choice Tropical Moringa Oil & Honey & Mane Choice Heavenly Halo

The  Tropical Moringa Oil & Honey Daily Moisturizer cream is hard to find in stores but I did happen to find one still being sold at Target online. The Halo moisturizer is quiet popular and also more expensive than the other.

What I love about The Tropical Moringa Oil & Honey Moisturizer and Mane choice Heavenly Halo

Because there is not any major differences I decide to write a combined review on both. I like the Heavenly Halo better than the other one. The formula is not so heavy and for some reason the Tropical Moringa moisturizer irritated my scalp at the end of the week but the Halo one does not.  These moisturizers work so well that having to moisturize daily was no longer something I had to do. It’s expensive but it is because of that very reason I pay for it. I grew up having to moisturize my scalp daily to keep it from drying out. Mane Choice products set me free from that annoyance! With their divine smell , the ability to make my twists defined and my curls shine, I will forever be a Mane Choice fan as long as I live!

I hope this helped a fellow curly girl out there but for all of you who don’t have curls these companies also make products for a range of different hair types. May your journey to healthy happy hair be blessed!

Fall Beauty Essentials: Skin Care

woman wearing black sweater standing on the field
Photo by Luis Quintero on Pexels.com

I will be  doing a series of beauty post that can help you Prepare Prevent and Protect your skin and hair during the changing of the Seasons from Summer to Fall.

The last two Fall seasons, my hair and skin have a little hard time adjusting. At first i tried to ignore it, focus on keeping my face clean and moisturized and… stay in the house as much as possible! The more I was exposed to the outside world the more I suffered from it. It makes me uncomfortable when my skin and hair feels disruption and is unrested. But this year I decided to try to a different approach.

Being a women with love for natural beauty and natural beauty products, sometimes I have the tendency to rebuke any product that’s not natural. But this natural movement is so new so most of the products out there can’t deliver all that my skin needs. Most of the time they only deal with just one of my problems. I decided to find a few non natural products that I could use to help me keep the balance in my skin, no matter what the fall season will throw at me.

Keeping it Real with you guys. This post is about how these products are helpful and refreshing to my skin but forreal my skin in these pictures are AWFUL! I was in a hurry and just came out from working in the yard. I totally forgot to wash my face up. But I loved the pictures so I kept them 🙂 .

A Beautiful Healthy Face

IMG_6982

Raw Unfiltered Honey will always be my main choice for washing my face. I use it daily morning and night. Honey does all these wonderful things:

Hydrates skin for better complexion

Evens Skin Tone

Eliminates dark spots and helps prevent them

Naturally antibacterial- Prevents and treats acne

Full of antioxidants to help minimize wrinkles and fine lines

IMG_6985

I found the Simple Line over 4 years ago when there was just the face wash and the moisturizer. I was a bit skeptical at first since I was new to the natural beauty movement. I was not sure if something so natural and simple could actually help. They have changed their formula since then and I was not too happy about that at first. I loved the old formula. But I am not the only one buying their products. I could see how the old formula could be very drying. Their new formula is more moisturizing than the last and it still produces these great results for me. When my skin is randomly oily and the honey is making it worse, Simple does these things for me:

Cleanses my skin well without irritation or drying

Peace of mind about what my pores are absorbing. No dyes No fragrances!

Thanks to the added B5 Vitamin, it immediately refreshes and calms my skin down whenever I experience heat and break outs.

IMG_6987

Biore was my missing link in battling the ups and downs of Fall weather. While both Simple and the Raw Unfiltered Honey have healing and restoring powers they did not keep me from developing my face’s sworn enemy. Black heads. Here’s what I love about Biore’s unclogging scrub.

Prevents and treats blackheads

Gently exfoliates skin

Releases a fresh cooling feel

Leaves my skin able to breathe for added healing

I normally rotate using these products throughout the week. But I also watch my skin to see which product it needs most that day.

For example : My skin right now is very oily as I write. So I will use the Simple Refreshing Face wash Gel to get that oil under control. I use the honey when my face feels very dry. And every Friday I use the Biore unclogging scrub to prevent any black heads and to have a gentle exfoliator after a long week.

Tune in one the next Beauty Post, I will talking about hair! Hope you were blessed and I hope these could be your answer to the struggle.. girl to girl.

Simple, Fresh, Daily Make Up

IMG_5167

When I was a teen I wore make up daily. I always went for a good eyeliner , masacara and every once in awhile a fun eye shadow.  As I have gotten older and my skin has changed (thanks to my pregnancies) things have changed for me quite a bit.

My struggles:

  1. My skin tone is one of the hardest to match. Also I’m much lighter in the winter and much darker in the summer.
  2. Most make up irritates my skin or is way too heavy on my skin. Because of this I can’t use powder and only use liquid. But liquid make up is harder to find in my skin tone.
  3. Mascara can break out my eyes. I have small thin lashes so everything always clumps way too much!
  4. My lips. Oh my! They are full and round so only certian colors don’t make me look like a clown and match perfectly with the color of my skin. Gloss makes them look twice as big and when you mix gloss with color well then my lips transform into balloons.

So as you can see this is one of the reason I am not a fan of make up. It takes alot of work just to find what works for me and well I’ve wasted alot money over the years. And there has been plenty of make up thrown in the trash. Whats the point of keeping it when it doesn’t work?

It’s been 6 years since my last make up haul from Sephora and Mary Kay. It was the month of my wedding and I wanted to splurge. Now after my 6th baby I am in need of another one. Just to treat myself. After all no one and I mean no one should be wearing make up thats 6 years old… No wonder my face started breaking out. Huhhhh.

IMG_5097

I am normally a Covergirl… girl. But I thought I should try something different for once. And my last purchase of foundation was through Mary Kay (way over priced by the way) and I just was not interested in paying for something I knew I would not use often. Eventually I will have to replace my make up once again. One day ……down by the river in a van… I was reading my Redbook magazine and I came across this new foundation by Maybaline New York:  Fit Me! Matte +Poreless. So I decided to check it out.

What I love about this foundation.

♥♥  For one it matches my skin tone PERFECTLY. It’s Matte, which means I wont look super shiny! I am sure shine looks good on some of yall but it just makes me look greasy. Gross. So I love the matte. It looks more natural on me as well. Which is always my main goal. The foundation doesn’t irritate my skin and when dry, does not rub off so easily. No stains on me! Yay.  So make sure you have some kind of make up removal wipes to clean it off well. It is also thin. So you can easily add more without feeling weighed down. Honestly a thin layer is good enough for me but I have put it on thicker and it has even more coverage without feeling thick. My skin is still able to breath!

This one is a keeper! As long as they keep making it. I will keep buying it!

IMG_5087

For my lips I figured why not try another matte? I saw this also in my Redbook mag and went to hunt down a color that was right for me. I always look great in a soft pink. What I love about this Melting Pout Matte:

♥  It’s light weight, thin and the color is on point. But oh snap! I have one small compliant, it is D.R.Y. I tried but a base of chap stick on then applying this but that made it a weird texture. So then I tried to mix it with my Covergirl Fruit Spritzer (which is ancient they don’t even sell them anymore), and that changed the color and took away that matte finish.

I love the Matte look but I will be shopping for another one because this one is way too dry.

IMG_5643

As I mentioned above I have been through different types of masacara because of breaking out. So I was a little worried when trying a new one.  I did a ton of research reading reviews on different ones before making my choice. In the end I went again with Mabaline New York and picked up their Lash Sensational.

What I love about it:

It plumps up my teeny tiny lashes, and it has not broken me out at all yet. It applies evenly with no clumps. BUT its a little thick and this is the first mascara that I have ever had to fan my eyes to get it to dry quickly. I think I am going to stick with Maybaline though since it’s the first mascara that has not broken me out. I will just be trying different ones to find my absolute favorite.

All in all I still loved the way everything looked on me and have worn this easy make up look countless times in the last month.

This was my first make up review guys!!!! I hope you liked it. I will probably doing another one in the future since I wasn’t a 100% in love with the lip matte and mascara.  And I still have to hunt down a good eye shadow palette. More beauty posts to come so stay tuned!

Beautiful We Are

IMG_2518-001

I am a lover of natural beauty. So most of the time I don’t wear make up. My go to morning routine only consists of washing my face with something as natural as possible and applying a gentle cream or moisturizer of some sort. But every once in awhile I like to have a little fun and wear make up for no reason really. I do not think make up itself is bad I just don’t believe I need it to be beautiful.

My grandmother told me told me something that has stayed with me my whole entire life. She was an older women that when you met her and found out her age you would have never believed it. She didn’t look her age at all. After hearing a few of my friends ask the same question, I decided to get an answer. I asked her “How do you stay looking so young?” She said “I don’t wear make up and I take care of my skin.” From that day on I decided that was exactly what I would do.

When I was in my young 20’s I always heard women older than me say the darndest things! I would see a women one day at church and comment how beautiful she looked. I would immediately get these responses:

“Oh I haven’t put my make up on yet. I look horrible!”

“Well you know its all about good make up! You would not believe what I look like without it on!”

“Well you know I can’t leave the house without my face on!”

I never knew if they had make up on or not. I just saw a beautiful women before me. And true to my heart when I see something beautful I say something. When hearing these comments though it always broke my heart. Not one time did a women just say “Thank you.” They always in some way or another added something negative to take away from the positive I just gave them.

What my grandmother told me was not the only thing I carried with me about beauty my entire life. The Holy Spirit also gave me a word when I was a young teen. I believe the comparing and insecurity starts to comes full circle when middle school starts. Sometimes I would worry so much about what I looked like and scared someone might see if I was not well put together. One day I was looking in my mirror, just staring out myself for no reason, yes I was weird… and the Holy Spirit said to me “It does not matter what someone says or thinks about you. All that matters is what you think about yourself.”

So when those women said that about themselves it was a reminder of what God has told me. It hurt my heart but also created a passion to want to spread the truth of what beauty really was. This is why I created this section. It is not about natural make up or natural products. Although there will be times I post about such things. It is about spreading a truth that has been in my heart since I was a little girl. No matter what, you are beautiful the way you are.

There is no need to create yourself  beautiful or enhance your beauty because you are the very word itself. Beautifully made, loved and created. I will be having fun trying all the things to write reviews on! But more importantly my hope is this part of my blog spreads a passion for the women of this world to just love themselves how God has made them. In every season of their lives.

The Ultimate Postpartum Beauty Basket

IMG_4500-001

I officially have 4 weeks left of this pregnancy! I am so stoked I am at the end because I am literally at the end of my patience. I am so done being huge it takes daily prayer for me to be able to walk into my day without going crazy.

I really wanted to post this before Christmas hoping to give someone a wonderful idea for a gift to a pregnant women they may know. But as stated before I am huge and with all the holiday planning I just wanted time to relax and enjoy whatever time I had when I wasn’t cooking and wrapping gifts.

I am going to list only a few of my very favorites that’s in this basket with an explanation as to why I chose the item. This basket is HUGE but I have been adding to it since week 10 of my pregnancy. You can get any size basket you like or even a little goody gift bag! If you want you can add to the basket little by little like I did. I was on a budget so I was always waiting until something on my list went on sale before I brought it. Because of that I saved on every item so for me it was worth it.

IMG_4505

Organic nipple cream Boob❤Ease

I was not even going to get this. But I just happened to see it on sale in the cart-wheel app and had to snatch it up. I used to use Lanolin nipple cream but found it to be sticky and it would harden over time. It would get all over my pump’s suction cups and was sometimes hard to smooth out to use on my nipples. So I decided to try something more organic in the hopes it will be safer for baby, easier to apply, and won’t leave a thick nasty film on my suction cups.

**UPDATE This nipple cream rocks! Heals nipples faster than lanolin’s and not sticky! Applies smoothly and leaves no residue on breastfeeding cups since by the time they are used the cream is already absorbed into skin.

IMG_4512

Organic Ginger Aid

I really wanted to try the red raspberry tea after the baby was born but I just wasnt keen on the flavor every reviewer said. So I chose this instead since it aids in digestion which is something every mom could use after having a baby! The last thing I want is a problem in that department so I figured this could really help. Ginger is such a great herb for your overall health. I normally make my own ginger tea directly from hand dried ginger root but I’ve been a bit lazy these days 😛. I also recommend mother’s tea. Although it didn’t change my milk production it tasted very good despite my concern about the licirious taste. It’s a good treat for you anytime during the day and is caffeine free.

IMG_4525

Multiple Cami’s in different colors and sizes

My baby will be quiet young this summer. So I know I will be doing a lot of outdoor breastfeeding during our picnics to parks and just hanging around Kentucky. So I decided to make a stash of them so I didn’t always have to wear my breastfeeding cover. I will put these on under whatever shirt I have on and not have to worry about a cover or my midriff showing. I got them all in different sizes as I loose weight ranging from XL to M  because I haven’t been a small anything since I was 15.

-NOTE: There’s a belly bandit in the picture. I purchased that right before I found out I was pregnant and just added it to the basket. Belly bandits are not as cheap as the other items in the basket but they make an awesome gift for a postpartum mom.

IMG_4521

Organic body wash or soap and Epsom Salts

This was very important. Salts are great for mothers who are healing from vaginal birth. Just add some lavender and a bit of olive oil and relax. Rather you give birth naturally or by C -Section I highly recommend getting something organic to keep clean. The main reason being that a lot of products that are not organic not only contain harsh chemicals but also perfumes that can be irritating to your healing lady areas and incision sites. This can prolong healing and also be downright painful. And honestly ladies have you not already been through enough pain as it is? Pick you out something that not only smells amazing but is good to you as well so you can continue to heal as comfortable as possible. This body wash from the Honest Company is my favorite. It smells amazing, feels amazing and is so versatile. But most importantly it is SAFE.

If you’re not a body wash kind of gal I again  HiGhLY recommended this soap that a lovely women makes all on her own. I happened to stumble upon her at the Farm Machinery Show in Louisville KY and so glad I did. I have tried other soaps and hers are by far my favorite. They smell amazing leave no residue, cause no irritation, and cleanses wonderfully without one bit of over dryness. Check out her website site here:

Beauty masks & Cleansing Cloths

Because your beautiful girl :). Even the most confident woman doesn’t really register those words after having a baby. Your exhausted, you’re starving all the time (if your breastfeeding) and your counting down the minutes until you can take that first shower. You feel more like a wild animal than you do a mother goddess. But a few beauty masks can make such a huge difference. I had 3 C-Sections and so that shower was not happening for at least another 28 hours or more. My third Section I received a wonderful gift that included a face mask and I put that on the first day in recovery. I cannot tell you how refreshingly amazing that was. I felt less like a wild animal and more like a human being. There’s no special one I would recommend. Just go for your preference. And sit back and relax as you freshen up and heal.

Cleansing wipes help you stay fresh in between showers. Again I advise organic sensitive ones  mom’s just to be safe and try to find flush-able ones just for ease.I included these summers eve ones because I wanted options. I could always use them later if they were too irritating after birth. Other cleansing cloths I included but are not pictured was Burts Bees organic cotton facial cleansing cloths. Night sweats are real and these babies are great when I wake up early morning for feeds after a sweaty night.

This basket was an amazing thing to have after you have a baby. This makes an excellent baby shower gift. And if your anything like me you love to give the un-expected. While mom and guest are cooing over all of the amazing cute baby gear, surprise her with a little TLC basket just for her woman to woman.
